The backplane capacities of the MA5200G-2/4/8
are 64/256/256Gbps. The system switching
capacities are respectively 16/256/256Gbps.
They provide 2/4/8 service slots, and up
to 1 10GE, 4 GE, 32 FE, 16 ATM 155M, 4 ATM
622M, 4 POS 155M, 2 POS 622M, 1 POS 2.5G
per board, supporting 32,000/64,000/64,000
concurrent sessions respectively. In short,
the MA5200G series has large capacities
and high-density interface, and can meet
the requirement of large capacity N-Play
Service Engine networking and expansion.
Wire Speed Forwarding Performance
and Powerful Routing Capability
The MA5200G series adopts the powerful
Network Processor technology, enabling wire-
speed forwarding for IP packets, MPLS and
multicast through all interfaces including
GE. Each board supports 3Mpps forwarding
capacity at least. The forwarding capacities
of the whole MA5200G-2/4/8 can reach 6/36/48Mpps.
It supports a large number of routing protocols
such as static route, RIPv1/v2, OSPF, BGP,
IS-IS, PIM-SM, PIM-DM, PIM- SSM and IGMPv1/v2/v3,
as well as various tunneling protocols such
as L2TP and MPLS VPN. The routing table
can have 1M entries.
Carrier-class Reliability
The MA5200G is designed to have an distributed
hardware architecture covering processing
system, service processing system, switching
network system, clock system, power supply
and management bus. All of the key components
are configured with hot redundancy, so as
to implement uninterrupted routing forwarding
and service processing.
Equipment Management and Service
Provisioning
The MA5200G provides the operation log
function. It provides a complete NM platform,
enabling carrier-class management and maintenance
functions such as topological management,
configuration, performance and fault management
and security control. The NMS of MA5200G
Series also provides North-bound interface
to Service Provisioning Management System
for service auto-provisioning.
Complete Security Mechanism
The MA5200G provides complete security
functions such as identification, address
anti- spoofing and attack shielding by using
authentication, ACL and resource protection.
The unique packet binding check technology
can check the header of each packet while
authenticating users, to see whether the
logical port (Physical port + VLAN ID) +
MAC + IP + PPPoE Session are matched. All
unmatched packets will be discarded. In
this way, the series can completely prevent
all kinds of counterfeits and ensure the
basic network security.
User and Service Management
The MA5200G can manage both users and services.
Users can access the network through Ethernet,
xDSL, WLAN, WiMAX or PON.

The MA5200G also supports multiple service
functions, such as captive portal, wholesale
service, multiservice selection, and multicast
duplication.
IPTV Solution
The MA5200G provides a perfect IPTV solution.
By using the powerful terminal management
capability, the MA5200G separates the IPTV
terminals. Thus, the terminals are secure
and the QoS is ensured.
The MA5200G can copy multicast packets
based on ports and VLANs. A dedicated multicast
copy engine can speed up channel switchover
and reduce the delay, which bring perfect
service experience to IPTV users.
The MA5200G can also copy multicast packets
based on sessions. In the networks where
the Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer
(DSLAM) cannot copy packets for users, the
MA5200G copies the packets for PPPoE users
directly. Therefore, carriers need not upgrade
the DSLAM and the earlier investment on
the IPTV service is reduced.
In addition, the MA5200G can grant the
multicast rights to users. That is, the
MA5200G defines which channels a user can
use. Then, the MA5200G copies only the packets
of the authorized channels. This function
can simplify the service deployment and
reduce the service operation cost. Besides,
by increasing the priority of the multicast
traffic, the MA5200G prevents the multicast
service from being interrupted in the case
of network congestion. |
