The NE 16E/08E/05 routers can provide
extensive functions, including multiple
instances of OSPF, MPLS TE, IPv6, OSPF SHAM-LINK,
multicast VPN, cross-domain multicast VPN,
BFD, MPLS OAM, large-capacity label of LSP,
and PWE3.
Smooth Transition from IPv4 to
IPv6
NE 16E/08E/05 series routers fully support
the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) and
IPv6 dual protocol stacks. It can provide
all IPv6 features and a good solution for
smooth transition from IPv4 networks to
IPv6 networks. Therefore, it can server
at the low end of IPv6, the dual-stack network,
and at the access network edge.
Carrier-Class Reliability
NE 16E/08E/05 can meet the high reliability
requirements for carrier-class and high-end
applications with the following features.
1. Adopting hot swappable boards, power
modules and fans.
2. Providing the key modules redundant,
such as: Routing Switch Unit (RSU, 1+1 backup,
except NE05), Routing Switch Extend Unit
(RSEU, 1+1 backup, except NE05), power supply,
fan modules and bus.
3. Supporting Virtual Routing Redundancy
Protocol (VRRP), interface backup and multilink
protocol PPP. Ensuring the full-time uninterrupted
network services.
Scalability
The Quidway? NetEngine 16E/08E/05 routers
provide maximum flexibility of functions
extension: board extension from single RSU
to dual configuration, bus extension from
2G to 4G and slot extension from 6 slots
to 17 slots. Each VIU can be deployed with
two interface modules, which provide both
flexible internetworking ability and extending
facility. All the flexibility and extension
capability above will ensure long-term protection
of user investments on the networks.
High-density Interfaces
NE16E has 12 versatile interface unit
(VIU) slots, can support 48 FE/24 155M POS/24
GE/192 E1 ports at most.
NE08E router has 6 VIU slots, can support
24 FE/12 155M POS/12 GE/96 E1 ports at most.
NE05 has 4 VIU slots, can support 16 FE/8
155M POS/8 GE/64 E1 ports at most.
