Quidway S2300 Series Carrier-Class Ethernet Switches

Overview

The Quidway S2300 series Ethernet switches (hereinafter referred to as the S2300) are developed by Huawei to carry multiple Ethernet services, targeting advanced MAN and intranets. The S2300 applies to various Ethernet access scenarios. Based on high-performance hardware of a new generation and the Versatile Routing Platform (VRP) developed by Huawei, the S2300 provides abundant and flexible service features, ensuring operability, manageability, and expansibility. The S2300 withstands lightning strikes and bears excellent security features. It also supports strong ACL functions, QinQ, and 1:1 and N:1 VLAN switch to flexibly deploy VLANs.

The S2300 is box-type with a height of 1 U, including S2309TP-EI, S2318TP-EI, S2326TP-EI, and S2352P-EI.

The S2309TP-EI provides eight 10/100BASE-T interfaces, one 10/100/1000BASE-T interface, and one 100/1000BASE-X SFP combo interface. The S2309TP-E1 provides either AC power supply or DC power supply.

The S2318TP-EI provides sixteen 10/100BASE-T interfaces, two 10/100/1000BASE-T interfaces, and two 100/1000BASE-X SFP combo interfaces. The S2318TP-E1 provides either AC power supply or DC power supply.

The S2326TP-EI provides twenty-four 10/100BASE-T interfaces, two 10/100/1000BASE-T interfaces, and two 100/1000BASE-X SFP combo interfaces. The S2326TP-E1 provides either AC power supply or DC power supply.

The S2352P-EI provides forty-eight 10/100BASE-T interfaces, two 100/1000BASE-X SFP interfaces, and two 1000BASE-X SFP interfaces. The S2352P-E1 provides either AC power supply or DC power supply.

Features of the S2300

VLAN-based service control

The S2300 supports rich ACL policies in which ACL rules can be sent by multiple interfaces in a VLAN. This can flexibly control interfaces in the VLAN and schedule resources.

The S2300-EI supports 1:1 VLAN switch, which implements IPTV services without configuring the home gateway. The S2300-EI supports N:1 VLAN switch, which is leading in the industry. This implements VLAN aggregation at the user side and decreases the number of VLANs.

The S2300-EI supports QinQ in which the VLAN tag of the public network is encapsulated to a packet outside the VLAN tag of the user network. In this manner, packets carry double VLAN tags when they are transmitted across the carriers' backbone network.

Various multicast functions

The S2300 supports multicast groups and various Layer 2 multicast replication functions, including IGMP snooping, IGMP filter, prompt leave of users, multicast across VLANs, and load balancing implemented through port aggregation. The S2300 also supports rate limit and statistics about multicast traffic on ports, which meets the requirements of IPTV services.

Perfect QoS

Each port on the S2300 supports four queues and WRR, SP, and WRR + SP scheduling. The S2300 supports complex traffic classification based on the VLAN, MAC address, IP, source address, destination address, priority, or port where application programs are applied. The S2300 supports rate limit based on flows and line speed forwarding on each port. This ensures high quality of voice, data, and data services.

Excellent security

The S2300 provides various functions to ensure the security of users and protect the network. The functions include large amount of ACL rules, bundling of the IP address, MAC address, or port, black hole MAC addresses, port isolation, packet filtering, limit to the number of MAC addresses that can be leant by an interface, detection through dynamic ARP entries, IP source guard, RADIUS, HWTACACS authentication, IEEE 802.1x authentication, and SSH.

Powerful lightning protection capability

The S2300 adopts a Huawei patented lightning protection technique to protect the device from lightning overvoltage. Without any additional lightning arresters, the S2300 provides ports with 6 KV lightning protection capabilities. In practical applications, even adverse environment, the lightning protection capability can minimize the damage caused by lightning strikes.

Perfect maintenance and management

The S2300 is easy to use and deploy. It can monitor status data through various maintenance and management modes. In addition, the S2300 supports HGMPv2, SNMP, NTP, SSHv2, HWTACACS+, RMON, and statistics about traffic on ports in a VLAN. The S2300 provides perfect operation and maintenance functions, which allows carriers to manage networks in an easy manner. This decreases OPEX and increases the cost-effectiveness of the S2300.

Environment-friendliness and energy saving

The S2300 features low power consumption and high adaptability to ambient temperature. With no fans installed, the S2300 can dissipate heat automatically, which ensures a quiet and environment-friendly working environment.
