Overview
The Quidway S3300 series
Ethernet switches (hereinafter referred to as
the S3300) are developed by Huawei to serve as
the new generation intranet Layer 3 switches for
bearing multiple Ethernet services. Based on high-performance
hardware of a new generation and the Versatile
Routing Platform (VRP) developed by Huawei, the
S3300 supports selective QinQ, multicast across
VLANs at line speed, carrier-class networking
such as ring and tree topologies, and Ethernet
OAM. In this manner, the S3300 can be deployed
in commercial centers and residential areas to
access the intranets and MAN.
The S3300 is box-type with a height of 1 U. The
S3300 includes the SI and EI versions. The SI
version supports Layer 2 functions and basic Layer
3 functions. The EI version supports complex routing
protocols and rich service features. The S3300
provides the following models: S3328TP-SI, S3352P-SI,
S3328TP-EI, S3328TP-EI-24S, S3352P-EI, S3352P-EI-24S,
and S3352P-EI-48S.

The S3328TP-SI/EI provides twenty-four 10/100BASE-T
interfaces, two 1000BASE-X SFP interfaces, two
10/100/1000BASE-T interfaces, and two 100/1000BASE-X
SFP combo interfaces. The S3328TP-SI/EI provides
either AC power supply or DC power supply.
The S3328TP-EI-24S provides twenty-four 100BASE-X
SFP interfaces, two 1000BASE-X SFP interfaces,
two 10/100/1000BASE-T interfaces, and two 100/1000BASE-X
SFP combo interfaces. The S3328TP-EI-24S provides
either AC power supply or DC power supply.
The S3352P-SI/EI provides forty-eight 10/100BASE-T
interfaces, two 100/1000BASE-X SFP interfaces,
and two 1000BASE-X SFP interfaces. The S3352P-SI/EI
provides either AC power supply or DC power supply.
The S3352P-EI-24S provides twenty-four 10/100BASE-T
interfaces, twenty-four 100BASE-X SFP interfaces,
two 100/1000BASE-X SFP interfaces, and two 1000BASE-X
SFP interfaces. The S3352P-EI-24S provides either
AC power supply or DC power supply.
The S3352P-EI-48S provides forty-eight 100BASE-X
SFP interfaces, two 100/1000BASE-X SFP interfaces,
and two 1000BASE-X SFP interfaces. The S3352P-EI-48S
provides either AC power supply or DC power supply.
Features of the S3300
Strong multi-service access capability
The S3300 supports selective QinQ, which does
not occupy ACL resources. The S3300 can map the
CoS value of the inner VLAN tag to that of the
outer VLAN tag, or change the CoS value of the
outer VLAN tag. The S3300 can also flexibly mark
QoS classes to bear multiple services.
The S3300 supports 1K multicast groups, controllable
multicast, IGMP snooping, IGMP filter, IGMP fast
leave, and IGMP proxy. The S3300 also supports
multicast VLAN across VLANs, multicast load balancing
implemented through port aggregation, and VLAN-based
multicast CAC to fulfill IPTV services.
The S3300 supports MCE to isolate VPN users of
the same device. This guarantees data security
and decreases the investment of users.
Carrier-class reliability
The S3300 supports STP, RSTP, MSTP, and enhanced
carrier-class Ethernet technologies such as Smart
Link and RRPP. This ensures protection switching
in milliseconds and guarantees high reliability
of networks. In addition, the S3300 supports Smart
Link and RRPP multi-instance to carry out load
balancing on links. This increases the bandwidth
utilization.
The S3300 features strong expansibility and compatibility,
which allow the S3300 to set up various networking
with existing network devices. This saves investment
of users and ensures the deployment of new services.
The S3300 supports fast detection of link faults
through BFD, which provides a detection mechanism
for OSPF, IS-IS, VRRP, and PIM in milliseconds.
Perfect QoS policies and security mechanism
The S3300 supports complex traffic classification
based on the quintuple (protocol type, source
IP address, TCP/UDP source port number, destination
IP address, and TCP/UDP destination port number),
IP precedence, ToS, DSCP value, IP protocol type,
ICMP protocol type, TCP source port number, VLAN,
protocol encapsulated in Ethernet frames, and
CoS. The S3300 supports Two Rate Three Color CAR
for flows. Each port supports eight priority queues,
and various scheduling algorithms including WRR,
DRR, SP, WRR+SP, and DRR+SP. This ensures quality
of voice, data, and data services.
The S3300 provides various functions to ensure
the security of users and protect the network.
The functions include large amount of ACL rules,
bundling of the IP address, MAC address, or port,
black hole MAC addresses, port isolation, packet
filtering, limit to the number of MAC addresses
that can be leant by an interface, detection through
dynamic ARP entries, IP source guard, RADIUS,
HWTACACS authentication, IEEE 802.1x authentication,
and SSH.
Design without fans
The S3300 models that provide 24 electrical interfaces
are designed without fans. They consume lower
power and are noise-free, and free the devices
from condensing and corrosion caused by fans.
Perfect maintenance and management
The S3300 is easy to use and deploy. It can monitor
status data through various maintenance and management
modes. In addition, the S3300 supports Ethernet
OAM defined in IEEE 802.3ah and IEEE 802.1ag,
HGMPv2, SNMP, NTP, SSHv2, HWTACACS+, RMON, and
statistics about traffic on ports in a VLAN. The
S3300 provides perfect operation and maintenance
functions, which allow carriers to manage networks
in an easy manner. This decreases OPEX and increases
the cost-effectiveness of the S2300. |
